Seeking Experienced Quantitative and Qualitative Data Collection Organization for: Large-scale survey on the Economic Costs of Child Marriage in Ethiopia
The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), in partnership with the World Bank Group, is seeking Expressions of Interest from Organizations and Agencies to conduct training, data collection, and tasks related to data management and data entry for a large, rigorous quantitative and qualitative examination of the economic costs of child marriage in Ethiopia.
Period of Service:August, 2015 – January 2016
Deadline for Application:5pm EST time, June 12, 2015
ICRW and the World Bank are collaborating in a three-year project to understand the economic costs and consequences of child marriage in various settings around the world. The study involves the use of primary and secondary data to explore critical pathways through which child marriage may influence economic outcomes at the household and national levels for a select group of countries, regions and at the global level.
The Candidate will support the project in the collection and management of primary data in Ethiopia.
More specifically, the Candidate will work under the supervision of ICRW to:
- Provide a robust quantitative assessment of the economic impacts and costs of child marriage in Ethiopia. The Candidate will assist in designing a data collection approach and will lead the administration of a nationally-representative household-based survey. The sampling frame will include approximately 2000 households, with two people in each household interviewed, for a total of approximately 4000 quantitative surveys.
- Foster a deeper understanding of the pathways through which child marriage may influence economic outcomes at the household and national levels. To this end, the candidate will facilitate and record a number of participatory focus group discussions with women between the ages 18-35 in urban and rural areas of the country.
We will only consider Candidates with proven expertise and qualified staff in large-scale, nationally-representative quantitative data collection and in qualitative research methods. We will consider Candidates with expertise in only either quantitative or qualitative data collection, but would prefer an organization that can effectively manage both quantitative and qualitative data collection and preparation for analysis.
Specific Skills and Experience Required:
1.Demonstrated experience with management of large research projects
