****Liaises With:**** Country Director, Director of Programmes, Area Coordinators, Programme Managers, Finance Department, Technical Advisers and Programme Partners

****Job Purpose:****

CONCERN Ethiopia is in the process of developing a number of innovative approaches to its work with the poorest communities in Ethiopia. It is important that we document these approaches in early 2015 in order to ensure that they are recorded for Replication and Scale-up by Partners and other organisations. These approaches include the following:

  1. Approaches to resilience programming
  2. Working in Consortia-a process report
  3. Partnering for Vocational Training
  4. Infant and Young Child Feeding
  5. Technical papers on Root crop development

Therefore the main responsibility of the PSO will be to document these approaches in a manner that facilities replication. This will be achieved through primary and secondary data collection, field and desk work and in collaboration with programme and management teams here. The PSO wlll also be required to assist programme teams and the Reporting and Communication Cooordinator in the preparation of other documents such as proposals and reports as required.

The PSO will also be required to assist with the compilation of Monthly Reports and with assisting Key staff in proposal and report writing as required

****Main Duties & Responsibilities:****

  • Produce case studies that demonstrate best practice in selected areas of Concern’s work and also address problems/constraints and critical issues.
  • Ensure that these Case studies are prepared in a participatory manner and are up to publication standard
  • Ensure that these Case Studies are user-friendly and include ‘How to’ and implementation guides as appropriate to ensure the possibility of replication of these methods by partners and others
  • Assist in supporting the vReporting and Communication Cooordinator, staff and partners in the production of high quality, timely and accurate reports. These documents will be in line and compatible with the donor formats as needed
  • Assist in ensuring timely submission of high quality proposals by administering proposal preparation time-frames, supporting personnel inputting on the submission, editing and write-ups and ensuring submission complies with format and administration requirements of the donor.
  • File both hard and electronic copies (on shared folder) of all documents, including contracts, reports, proposals, tools and data.

General

  • Represent Concern at relevant coordination meetings at local and national level
  • Assist in surveys, studies and research conducted by the programmes
  • Ensure learning documentation is shared with relevant staff
  • In conjunction with the Programme team, support the identification, documentation and dissemination of lessons in the Country Programme

****PERSON SPECIFICATION****

****ESSENTIAL****

****Education, Qualifications & Experience Required****:

  • Master’s degree, Bachelors Degree or College Diploma in development studies or related field
  • Good knowledge of the principle and practices of humanitarianism and development programmes
  • Experience of living/working overseas
  • Good knowledge of computer applications- Microsoft word, Excel and file management
  • Fluent spoken & written English
  • Excellent English report & proposal writing and communication skills
  • Excellent critical analysis skills including the ability to interpret and present data
  • Very good interpersonal skills- consultative, positive and able to plan and
  • A commitment to capacity building and a mentoring/coaching approach to working with colleagues
  • Ability to use initiative and work with limited supervision to agreed priorities.
  • Good leadership, administration, strategic planning and programme design skills
  • Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive, ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
  • Empathy with Concern’s mission, vision and goals, and our target group.

****DESIRABLE:****

  • Experience of preparing high quality documents for key stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of participatory programming techniques.
  • Familiarisation with Concern’s Programme Cycle Management System
  • Previous experience in a similar role
